As you may know, we LOVE a good face mask. A quality mask can completely transform your skin in as little as 20 minutes. But what’s even better than a good mask? A mask that makes for hilarious selfies of course! May we present the I DEW Care Disco Kitten Mask ($23) from MEMEBOX. This sparkly mask with an amazing name promises to reveal your brightest, clearest complexion yet! Read on to see if it lived up to our high expectations.
What Is It?
The Disco Kitten Mask seems like your typical peel-off mask, but with a fancy shimmery twist. The ultra-boujee ingredient list includes:
- Pearl powder to gently exfoliate and brighten
- Diamond powder to boost elasticity, remove impurities and illuminate lackluster skin.
- Rice bran extract to deliver vitamins that moisturize and improve skin texture
- Oat that works as an antioxidant to keep skin healthy and strong
- White complex of lily, jasmine, orange flower, elder flower and magnolia to replenish the skin with vitamins, making it softer and more even-toned.
How to Use It
Apply a generous, even layer to clean dry skin using either your fingers or a silicone brush. Leave it on for 20 minutes or until it’s totally dry, then peel it off starting from the outer edges. Use 2-3 times per week.
TBH I had some real high expectations for this mask after reading the super over-the-top ingredients list. My first thoughts were that I LOVED the ultra-simple packaging. It makes Disco Kitten mask feel way more expensive than it is. When I opened the tub though, I encountered a messy disaster. The little tub comes covered with a peel-off foil, which is insanely hard to peel off in one piece. It took me a solid 10 minutes just to peel the dang foil, and at one point i ended up spilling a giant glob of the mask just trying to open it.
Applying the mask was almost as messy as opening it. The white mask has a similar consistency to marshmallow fluff, which makes applying it a complicated, sticky adventure. I’d recommend using one finger only so you don’t waste too much product getting it from the tub to your face. The directions say to use “the silicone brush” as if it comes with a silicone brush (it does not).
After finally getting the mask on my face, things turned around for the better. The mask goes on a pearly white and then gradually gets shinier and more silvery as it dries. I looked in the mirror and immediately got Tin Man vibes (hello Halloween costume??) The mask tightens, but doesn’t tingle or burn or anything like some do. I left it on for around 30 minutes, then started to peel it off. It peeled pretty well but I had a lot of little shiny remnants left over that took me a few minutes to remove. Next time I’ll make sure the edges have a thicker layer.
In the end though, my skin DID look nice and glowy afterwards! Must be all those diamonds and pearls. I didn’t notice much of a change in the blackheads around my nose, but this mask wasn’t made for that so I wasn’t surprised. The Disco Kitten mask is ALMOST perfect- the only thing I’d change is the packaging. It really should come in a tube instead of a tub. Having something that messy in a tub makes zero sense. I’d recommend this mask to anyone of any age without any major skin issues just looking for a little boost a few times a week. I’ll definitely be using it before any major events!
