While Mario Badescu Skin Care has been around since 1967, it’s recently become a cult beauty staple. The product line includes super gentle and high quality toners, moisturizers, masks and more. Celebs and regular folks alike have been obsessing over Mario Badescu’s facial sprays, and the King Kylie Jenner herself has raved about the MB Drying Lotion. And our favorite part about these products? They’re super affordable. Check out our reviews below of some of our faves from the line.
Facial Spray With Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea ($7) + Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater ($7)
We absolutely love these Mario Badescu facial sprays! For a more refreshing and detoxifying spray, I’d recommend the cucumber and green tea. For a more hydrating spray, I’d recommend the herbs and rosewater. You can read our full reviews in former posts. Click here to read about the green spray and here to read about the pink one!
Mario Badescu Silver Powder ($12)
What it is:
This super-powder decongests, clarifies and removes oil with minerals like kaolin, calcium carbonate and zinc oxide. It helps to purify pores and reduce stubborn blackheads by drawing out pore-clogging impurities.
How to use it:
The instructions say to dampen a cotton ball and dip it into the powder to create a paste. Then press the paste onto stubborn blackhead-ridden areas, and rinse after 10 minutes.
I felt that their instructions left a mess in my bathroom and wasted a ton of product. Here is what I would recommend: Scoop some powder into the rounded cap and add a few drops of water. Then mix it with a concealer brush or your fingers to form the paste, and brush the paste onto your blackhead-ridden areas. It will go on much more smoothly than Mario Badescu’s method. Just make sure to rinse and dry the cap before putting it back on the container.
You guys, blackheads are the worst. I’ve tried every pore strip and mask out there and nothing seems to do much to clear them out. I didn’t have high hopes for this powder but it’s a legit game-changer! After one use I noticed a reduction in both blackheads and oil production on my nose. After 3 or 4 uses my blackheads were barely even visible.
It also wasn’t as drying as I expected- most products that work on blackheads usually leave my skin peeling by the next day. This one surely did not. I also sometimes use a blackhead extraction tool, and I found that it was way easier to extract right after using this powder- whatever it didn’t remove, it brought to the surface. I would recommend this powder to anyone with clogged pores, even those with sensitive skin as this seems to be non-irritating.
Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner ($18)
What it is:
This anti-aging toner is aimed at dull and dehydrated or combination skin. It’s a powerful, yet gentle alcohol-free toner that uses glycolic acid and grapefruit extract to exfoliate and remove skin impurities. It also contains aloe to calm the skin and alpha hydroxy acids to minimize wrinkles and discoloration.
How to use it:
After cleansing, apply the toner twice a day with a cotton ball in sweeping, outward motions.
While this product is aimed at aging skin, at 25 I want product that will help keep my skin 25 forever. I also (stupidly) spent my college years in the sun 24/7 and have been trying to reverse that sun damage ever since. I’ve been using this toner for a few weeks now and it seems to be doing great things for my skin. I’ve noticed a reduction in hyperpigmentation – my skin looks much more even. I have a lot of unevenness from teenage acne scars and sun damage and this toner has lightened those up quite a bit.
I’ve also always had giant pores on and around my nose that get super blocked up. This toner significantly reduces the look of those pores and helps keep them clear. I would highly recommend this toner to anyone with aging skin, hyperpigmentation or sun damage. This product is not recommended for sensitive or acne-erupted skin. Also be aware when using this toner that the AHA it contains increases sun sensitivity. So make sure to apply a high-level SPF to avoid your face looking like a tomato.
Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask ($18)
What it is:
The Super Collagen Mask was one of the first products in the Mario Badescu line. It’s aimed at aging dry, dull skin that needs a lift. The collagen it contains helps plump and smooth the skin. It also hydrates, firms and reduces the look of wrinkles. Basically it’s a youth mask and we all want that unless we’re 19 trying to use a fake ID to get into a club.
How to use it:
Apply a thin layer onto clean skin avoiding the eye area. Rinse after 20 minutes and use this mask 2-3 times a week to maximize its youth powers.
While collagen masks are typically marketed towards women over 30, I absolutely LOVE the results this gives me. I use the Super Collagen Mask a couple times a week and it leaves my skin plumped up and super soft. It’s also gentle- I used it once when I had a bit of a sunburn and it didn’t irritate my skin at all!
The mask has a relatively thick but smooth consistency, so it spreads on and washes off easily. I love using this mask before a big event because it really smooths out and plumps up my skin. I would recommend this to ladies and gentlemen looking to plump up and smooth their skin and keep those wrinkles away.
